Principles of Ethical Peer Review

ICIEDI 2027 recognises peer review as a cornerstone of scholarly excellence and an essential mechanism for advancing Maqasid Intelligence, Ethical Digital Innovation, and Transformative Sustainable Development.

Five Guiding Principles

How ICIEDI reviews research

Scientific Integrity

Reviews should be based solely on the scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, and contribution of the submitted research. Personal opinions, institutional affiliations, nationality, gender, religion, or other non-academic considerations should not influence the review process.

Ethical Responsibility

Reviewers are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity by conducting reviews honestly, objectively, and professionally while respecting the ethical values that underpin responsible research and innovation.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts and supporting materials must be treated as confidential documents. Information obtained through the review process must not be disclosed, shared, or used for personal, academic, or professional advantage.

Constructive Scholarship

Peer review should contribute to the advancement of knowledge by providing clear, respectful, evidence-based, and constructive feedback that assists authors in improving the quality, clarity, and impact of their research.

Professional Accountability

Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within the requested timeframe, disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, and support the Conference Scientific Committee in maintaining a fair, transparent, and high-quality peer-review process.

Reviewer Appointment

Reviewers are appointed by the Conference Scientific Committee based on their academic qualifications, research expertise, publication record, and professional experience relevant to the conference themes and tracks.

Each manuscript is normally assigned to at least two independent reviewers. Where additional expertise is required or reviewer recommendations differ significantly, the Conference Scientific Committee may appoint an additional reviewer or Associate Editor to ensure a balanced and informed evaluation.

Reviewers are expected to accept assignments only when they possess the necessary expertise and can complete the review objectively and within the specified timeframe.

Artificial Intelligence Policy for Reviewers

ICIEDI recognises that artificial intelligence tools may assist reviewers in improving the clarity or grammar of their review reports. However, reviewers remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and professional judgement reflected in their evaluations.

Reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, supplementary files, or unpublished research data into publicly accessible generative AI platforms or any system that may retain, reuse, or disclose submitted content.

Artificial intelligence must not be used to generate scientific evaluations, publication recommendations, or independent scholarly judgement. The assessment of originality, methodology, scientific contribution, ethical compliance, and publication suitability must always represent the reviewer's own independent academic judgement.

Reviewer Recognition

ICIEDI recognises the valuable contribution of reviewers to the advancement of high-quality research and scholarly excellence. To acknowledge their contribution, reviewers may receive:

  • Official Certificate of Reviewing
  • Recognition as an ICIEDI Reviewer
  • Eligibility for the Outstanding Reviewer Award
  • Consideration for appointment to future Scientific Committees and Editorial Boards
  • Opportunities to contribute to future ICIEDI conferences and collaborative research initiatives
